Mouse Kills Tiger was started accidentally during a surprisingly successful blend of some drum & bass programming and song writing by a couple of jazz musicians seeking to play music that was less esoteric (but not too much less) than the avant garde improvisations they were used too.
Already driving one radio station off the air for giving them a spin (r.i.p. indie 103.1), MKT is known for their unconventional harmonies and rhythms buried musically in sounds capes as intense as they are beautiful. Hip-hop, jazz, and drum and bass influences blend so seamlessly, that none of them remain individually recognizable and an entirely original sound develops.
Comprised of dedicated improvisers, yet devoted arrangers and cantankerous perfectionists, MKT transcends the sum of their parts, and they consider themselves, in all the paradoxical humbleness they can muster, to be very, very good. Hopefully you agree.
